IRVING, Texas - Decision time: Take the kids on yet another all-day shopping venture into the holiday crowds while keeping them fed, safely close by and entertained . . . or drop them off with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for a day of dancing, making crafts, having lunch and watching a holiday movie?

Hmmmm . . . That's a tough one . . . or not.

Lucky for Alyssa Bocanegra, her mom and dad brought the eight-year-old to spend the day with America's Sweethearts.

George Bocanegra said, "She was very excited. We always watch the Making the Team show and she would always cheer in front of the TV so when we heard about this (camp) she definitely wanted to do it."

When asked to explain why her day with the DCC was so special, Alyssa said, "The best thing is that we are in the studio. Oh yeah, and Abigail (rookie DCC) is in here."

DCC rookie Ally Traylor said, "The camp actually feeds off the popularity of our CMT series and all the kids who have been watching the show for the past few months now get to come and spend the day with some of the Cheerleaders who made the team."

Some of the fun activities include making holidays cards for the individual DCC and then leaving them in their lockers, enjoying hot cocoa, watching a movie, and of course, learning a dance.

"The summer camps have been such a success that we've had parents ask if we'd ever offer other programs throughout the year when kids are out of school like the holidays and spring break," DCC assistant director Rachel Durbin said. "This is not as intense as the summer camps; it's really more about having fun and hanging out with the Cheerleaders while giving the parents a few extra hours to get holiday errands done."

Remaining camps are available for ages 5-14 on Friday, Dec. 21 (9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; Thursday, Jan. 3 (9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.); and Friday, Jan. 4 (9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Camps are $89 a session.
