Getting to Know Cassie

Were you named after anyone?
I got my middle name from both of my grandmothers.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Chocolate with oreos and caramel.

What shoes from your collection do you wear the most?
The shoes I wear almost everyday are my Converse sneakers that I’ve had since middle school. They have writing all over them, some studs that I put on them in college, and more holes than anyone’s favorite shoes should ever have. But I still love them!

What is your favorite fast-food chain?
That’s a really hard question. I love them all! I am a regular at Jack-in-the-Box, Taco Bell, and Taco Bueno, and I also really like Burger Street!

Do you have any hidden talents?
I can sing and speak with my mouth closed.

What is the last thing that made you laugh?
The last thing that made me laugh was The Office. I love that show and I just recently watched the season premiere and laughed the entire time.

What is the last thing that made you cry?
The last thing that made me cry was when my grandmother passed away. My dad’s mother lived with us since I was seven, and I just lost her this August. I spoke at her funeral and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I have very mixed emotions about her passing. I know that I am so lucky to have made it to the hospital to say goodbye and hold her hand as she took those last few breaths, but I am still very sad. I wish she could have made it to my wedding that is less than seven months away. I know that she will be there in spirit, though, so I will have a special memorial bouquet in her seat at the ceremony.

Red or pink?
Red … and black!

Do you collect anything?
I have always kind of collected matches from different places. Not in a way that I display them and won’t use them or anything, but I just like to have matches around at all times.

Apple juice or orange juice?
Orange juice

Sweet tea or soda?
Dr. Pepper!

Have you ever been addicted to any video game, computer game, or phone game?
For about a year I was very addicted to a PlayStation game. It’s kind of embarrassing, but I played “Grand Theft Auto” all the time. One of my friends bought me the Xbox version last year.

Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs and a cat. My male dog is an all-white German Shepherd named Kane, and the other is a female pound puppy that is some kind of shepherd mix. Her name is Rufio (no, I did not choose that name!). I rescued my cat from the pound, too, and he is an all-gray, male kitten named Meatball.

What kind of sandwich did you take to school as a child?
I took a “fluffanutter” sandwich to school. It is a peanut butter and marshmallow cream sandwich. So yummy!

Who is your all-time favorite band?
The Beatles and Brand New… weird mixture, I know!

Have you ever been out of the country? If so, where?
I have been to South Korea for two USO tours, and Mexico and the Bahamas with the DCC for calendar shoots. I have also been to France, and I went to Australia with my dance studio for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.

Would you rather watch a scary movie or an action movie?
Scary movie!

Comedy or romantic movie?
Comedy, always.

Do you have any bad habits?
I open everything with my teeth. It makes my parents so mad. They always say they didn’t pay for me to have braces for five years just to ruin my teeth now.

Are you clean or messy?
I hate to admit it, but I am very messy. My clothes are all over the place in my room.

What was your high school’s mascot?
The Colonels

What was your childhood dream job?
My childhood dream jobs were to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, a teacher, and a mom. We literally have me saying that on video at six years old.

Are you a morning or night person?
I’m a night person, for sure.

If you HAD to change your name, what would it be?
My dad really wanted to name me Rebel! I think it’s a pretty cool and unique name. Kind of ironic, but still different.

What was your favorite TV show as a child?
Ninja TurtlesPower Rangers and Boy Meets World

What is your favorite TV show now?
The OfficeModern Family and Parenthood

What are three things that most people don’t know about you?
1. My socks absolutely NEVER match.

2. I’m a very injury-prone person, although it’s never caused by accidents with cool stories. I always get hurt in the most embarrassing ways. I broke my elbow in the second grade and had to have surgery to pin it back together because I was standing on a trash can, trying to hang on a basketball goal, and my brother knocked it out from under me. I had my first knee surgery from doing an easy toe touch, and then the second knee surgery was caused by a YOGA accident. Really, who gets hurt doing yoga? And last, but certainly not least, I broke my collarbone while walking my dog. Self-explanatory … just very embarrassing.

3. I have severe A.D.D. I have to take medicine twice a day because my mom complained to my doctor that my first dose wore off at night around practice time. So now I take a different kind before rehearsal. I showed some of the girls on the team how bad my ADD is the other day when I showed up to practice and had forgotten to take one hand’s worth of nail polish off. One hand was painted, and the other wasn’t. The day I figured out that I had ADD was when I realized that I had never finished a page in a coloring book in my whole life.
