Entertaining the World

Q: What’s beautiful, white and red all over?

A: A Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader’s Lucchese boots after jump-splitting on the hilly red dirt at a motocross event!

That may not have been the funniest joke, but it’s actually true! If you think the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders ONLY perform at Cowboys events and home games, I’m about to let you in on a little secret.

Each year, the current DCC audition for a chance to be a part of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Show Group, for which 12 girls are selected. This unique group offers more opportunities for the girls to entertain and share their talents with others. From sideline routines in the dugouts of an Arkansas Naturals baseball game to performing the elaborately costumed and choreographed variety show, “America & Her Music,” for our U.S. Troops overseas, it is wonderful that we have the opportunity to represent America’s Team, not just at football games held at Cowboys Stadium but at a wide variety of events around the world.

My most rewarding experience so far as a DCC was when I was selected last season to travel on my very first USO Christmas tour to South Korea during the 2010 holiday season. It is such an honor and a great feeling to entertain and visit with our American troops who serve our country away from their homes, families and friends. We get to spread cheer and bring them “a little bit of home” for Christmas!

Most of the non-game events that the DCC are a part of are for charity, such as the American Heart Association, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, The Salvation Army, Veterans Administration Hospitals and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as annual visits to nursing homes and children’s hospitals all over Dallas.

As a four-year DCC veteran and a two-year Show Group member, I have performed at a wide variety of events around the Metroplex, the state of Texas, the United States, and throughout the world. To name a few, I have performed at various baseball and hockey games, motocross races, college football games, corporate events, grand openings, and even for fans at the Atlantis in the Bahamas and in Riviera Nayarit, overseas in South Korea, and many more.

Being a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader is not only an amazing experience and opportunity because we get to grace the sidelines at the Cowboys home football games, but also because we get to represent the best team in the NFL at events around the globe.
