Rookie - 2014

Hometown: Las Vegas, NV

Occupation: Student

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Premedical Specialty and a Dance Minor

Hobbies: Dancing, reading, traveling, hiking

Dance Background & Experience: I grew up at my dance studio in Las Vegas, at first watching my older sister, and at 4 years old finally getting to compete myself. I was trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, pointe, tumbling, and partnering six days a week and at 7 years old I was put on a full scholarship. When I was 12 years old I won a competition to represent the USA in the "Battle of the Countries" in Australia against Australia, New Zealand, and Canada; which I can proudly say the USA won. I continued to train, compete, and assist at national and international dance competitions and conventions through high school winning various scholarship awards and titles. I am now finishing up a Dance Minor at my current University.

One thing most people would be surprised to learn is... I LOVE Sci-Fi movies, TV shows, and books. The movies and TV shows are especially fun for me because I have a fascination with how the monsters and creatures are depicted and created. It’s so interesting to see what different people deem scary and how they bring their own variation to life on a screen. So basically I’m a HUGE geek.

Biggest Fear: Being in a final exam and having my calculator die or break… Trying to do advanced math, without a calculator, in a time pressure situation is enough to give anyone nightmares.

What would be your superpower?: Time Control… Sleep as long as you want and never be late? Yes please.

Most Embarrassing Moment: I accidentally blasted through a stop sign on my first driver’s license test, making my male driving instructor scream at a very high pitch. Needless to say I failed and my family has never let me live it down.

Dream Job: Designing medical equipment

Dream Vacation Destination: South Africa or Italy

Why did you decide to audition for the DCC?: Dance has always been a huge part of my life and keeps me in balance with all my academic endeavors. I decided to audition because DCC would not only allow me an outlet for my passion of dance and performance, but it is one of the most respected and recognized organizations in the world. Knowing DCC is the best of the best, I decided to go big or go home.

What are some of your DCC highlights?: There is nothing like your first game as a DCC. If coming out wearing your DCC uniform alongside your friends and performing in front of a full AT&T Stadium doesn’t put you on cloud nine then I don’t know what will.

Advice for someone who dreams of becoming a DCC: Be prepared. Take as many dance classes as you possibly can. Eat and workout with the goal of being healthy and strong. I think it is also very important to have a good network of people to support you and help you stay accountable for the goals you set for yourself along the way.
